The smuggling of more than 55 kilograms of drugs into the country has been prevented, the Press Center of the State Border Service (SBS) told APA.
It was reported that the smuggling of a total of 55 kilograms 105 grams of narcotic drugs and 1,000 Methadone M-40 tablets containing psychotropic substances from the Islamic Republic of Iran into the Republic of Azerbaijan was prevented in the service area of the “Horadiz” border detachment of the Border Troops of the State Border Service.
As a result of border search and operational measures, on August 21, one person who attempted to smuggle 26 kilograms 5 grams of narcotic drugs and 1,000 Methadone M-40 tablets containing psychotropic substances into the country was detained, while on August 22, three citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan who attempted to smuggle 29 kilograms 100 grams of narcotic drugs into the country were detained.
Operational and investigative measures are ongoing in connection with both cases.
