Azerbaijan extradites Indian citizen placed on international wanted list

An Indian citizen detained in Azerbaijan has been extradited to his country, the Press Service of the Prosecutor General’s Office told APA.

According to the information, a request by the competent authorities of the Republic of India for the extradition of Indian citizen Singh Prabhdeep Gurraj, born in 1993, who had been placed on an international wanted list by Indian law enforcement agencies on charges of organizing the illegal trafficking of 354 kilograms of heroin, was sent by the Prosecutor General’s Office to the Baku Court on Grave Crimes for consideration.

The individual was identified in Azerbaijan and a preventive measure in the form of arrest was selected against him.

Based on the Agreement “On Extradition between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of India” dated April 4, 2013, a decision was made regarding Singh Prabhdeep Gurraj, and he was handed over to the competent authorities of the requesting state under the escort of a special convoy of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice.
