As a result of measures carried out by employees of the Astara Customs Directorate of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan, a particularly large quantity of narcotic drugs has once again been detected and removed from illegal circulation, APA-Economics reports, citing the State Customs Committee.
According to the information, the narcotic substance was discovered at the “South Astara” customs post in a vehicle transporting a “greens” cargo from Iran to Russia in transit through the territory of the country. Since suspicious signs were observed during an inspection conducted using a stationary X-ray system, a thorough customs inspection of the cargo vehicle was carried out with the involvement of a canine service dog.
During the inspection, a particularly large quantity of narcotic substance — marijuana — with a total weight of 51 kilograms and 941 grams, concealed from customs control and placed in the trailer of the vehicle together with its packaging, was discovered.
