In Azerbaijan, four people, including a serviceman, are accused of treason against the state.
According to information obtained by APA, the materials collected in the criminal case, for which the preliminary investigation has been completed at the State Security Service (SSS), have been submitted to the Baku Military Court. These individuals were arrested some time ago.
Ilkin Ganbarov and Vusal Aghayev, accused of treason against the state in the form of espionage by assisting representatives of a foreign intelligence agency, were detained and brought to investigation as a result of measures taken by the SSS. Vusal Aghayev is a serviceman.
During the measures continued by the State Security Service (SSS), Tural Aliyev was apprehended in the territory of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and Mammad Sharifov was apprehended in the territory of the Republic of Türkiye and brought to the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The accused individuals have been charged under Article 274 (treason against the state) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The sanction of this article provides for a punishment of imprisonment from 12 to 20 years, or, depending on the circumstances of the case, life imprisonment.
