A person suspected of killing a 12-year-old girl in Shamkir has been detained, APA's local bureau reports.
According to the information, as a result of measures carried out by police officers, the victim's 16-year-old sister, identified as S. Rahimova, was detained on suspicion of committing the murder.
The investigation is ongoing.
According to TABIB, at around 9:00 p.m. on July 24, 2026, the body of a female minor born in 2014 was brought to the Emergency Department of the Shamkir District Central Hospital.
Earlier, APA's local bureau reported that the girl, identified as A. Namazova, a resident of Mahmudlu village in the Shamkir district, had been taken to hospital in critical condition with stab wounds.
Despite the medical assistance provided, it was not possible to save her life.
According to preliminary information, the girl's parents had reported her missing to the police earlier that day.
A short time later, she was found injured in the yard of their home.
Police officers are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
