6 were taken dead, 2 injured out of collapsed multistoried building in center of Azerbaijani capital

So, the number of the victims reached eight. Six of them are said to have died and two injured.
Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov and Emergencies Minister Kamaladdin Heydarov were on the site all night long. The remainders of the wreckage are carried off the site by lorries. The cell of the building has not been destroyed, so the people remained there are supposed to be alive. Rescue efforts continue.
Yesterday the newly constructed 12-storey building situated in Mammad Nakhchivani street 27, (former 6th parallel district) Yasamal district collapsed Three buildings nearby have also been damaged by the collapse of the building. All of the team of workers are reportedly to have remained under the wreckage. They are supposed to be 15-20 of them. Emergencies Ministry, Republic Prospectorâ€™s Office, Interior Ministryâ€™s forces are at the site. Emergencies Ministry has brought heavy equipment for recovery. Head of Presidentâ€™s Office Ramiz Mehdiyev, Deputy Prime Minister Abid Sharifov, Emergencies Minister Kamaladdin Heydarov and Health Minister Ogtay Shiraliyev, Interior Minister Ramil Usubov and Prosecutor General Zakir Garalov, National Security Minister Eldar Mahmudov and Baku mayor Hajibala Abutalibov were yesterday on the site.
Baku Prosecutor General Aziz Seyidov said criminal case has been launched on article 222 (negligence of safety rules) of the criminal code.
He said that director general of Mutafakkir building company Ali Muradov and one of the officials Asgar Aliyev were detained. Ali Muradov did not confirm the supposition that the building was exploded during the interrogation. The construction of the building started in 2002 and 15 storeys of the building have already been constructed. /APA/
