New detention wards to be constructed in Azerbaijanâ€™s regions

The opening of the new detention ward constructed in Nakhchivan will be held in summer, representation of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic to Baku told the APA. The detention ward is about to finish soon. The detention ward meeting European standards is for 400 prisoners and detainees. There are 17 detention wards, 1 reformatory, 1 medical institution, 1 prison, and 3 isolation wards in the republic. New detention wards are being constructed in Lenkeran and Sheki. The detention ward #3 in Shuvalan, #1 in Bayil will be abolished and substituted by new detention wards. Place is allotted in Kurdakhani for construction of new detention ward. The new detention ward will meet modern standards. Gobustan jail situated in Gobustan reserve will also be removed by UNESCOâ€™s proposal in the nearest future. Place is allotted in Garadagh for construction of new jail. The jail will consist of two parts. The construction will begin at the beginning of the year. Lifers will be kept in cells for 2-4 men. /APA/
