101 criminal cases against 166 persons submitted to court, investigation of 94 criminal cases underway within anti-corruption campaign in Azerbaijan

Kamran Aliyev, chief of the Department to Combat Corruption under Prosecutor General writes this in his article published in the “Azerbaycan” newspaper, APA reports.

Kamran Aliyev said Hotline “161” was set up at the department on March 3, 2011, with the view of increasing efficiency in combating corruption, offering opportunities to the citizens to appeal the Department to Combat Corruption under Prosecutor General.
“2933 complaints were received by the Hotline, the authors of more than 6000 not related to corruption were explained the ways of restoration of their violated rights in civil, family, housing, administrative law,” he said.

Department chief said the Investigation Division of the Department to Combat Corruption carried out initial investigation of 195 criminal cases in 2011. These criminal cases are related to passive bribery, legalization of illegal earnings or other property, abuse of power, plunder of property and other facts.
“The Investigation Division completed investigation of 101 criminal cases against 166 persons and submitted to court, investigation of 94 cases is underway. The department paid special attention to the solution of the facts related to the legalization of the illegal earnings and property,” he said.
