General prosecutor’s office of Moldova is planning to appeal the court decision.
Edward Baguirov was arrested in Chisinau on June 16, 2011. He is charged with participation in mass unrests in Moldova in April, 2009. During the unrests, protesters attacked the parliament and presidential residence.
Russian foreign ministry defends Baguiorv. Russian embassy in Chisinau sent a note of protest to the Moldovan foreign ministry saying that Baguirov was detained for groundless charges and is under permanent psychological pressure.
Edward Baguirov is a member of the Azerbaijan Writers Union.
