Baku. Hafiz Heydarov – Baku. An organized criminal group involved in burglaries was rendered harmless in Ganja City of Azerbaijan, local police officer told APA.
Two of eight members of the group are Georgian citizens and others are the residents of Ganja City. They stole about AZN 500 000 from the public enterprises.
The group’s kidnapping plans were also disclosed. They intended to take Azerbaijani businessmen working in Russia and Turkey hostages and to demand two million dollars of ransom for them, but they failed to realize their plans.
Police said it has already launched criminal investigation and operational measures were continued to unmask other crimes committed by the group.
