Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan: â€œTop officers of the Dashkesan military unit N have been brought to justiceâ€

Top officials of the Republican Military Prosecutorâ€™s Office, as well as high-ranking experts were sent to the site to investigate the reasons of the shootingâ€, Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan Zakir Garalov told AzerTAc news agency, APA reports.

The Prosecutor General said the Republican Military Prosecutorâ€™s Office launched criminal investigation and military prosecuting officers and military secret service of the National Security Ministry began urgent investigative-operational measures. â€œThose measures are continued intensively today. The investigation of this tragic event is under the daily control of the president and all necessary measures were taken to investigate it. The Defense Ministry and the Republican Military Prosecutorâ€™s Office informed the public community about the event, but some persons made preconceived publications in the press using it for their political goals. They are proposing groundless versions trying to mislead the society and so offending self-esteem of the families of killed soldiers and officers.

Azerbaijani Prosecutor Generalâ€™s Office states that biased media reports aiming to cause confusion in the public, cast shadow on the work done in the military build-upare inadmissible.

Zakir Garalov said several persons had been arrested in connection with the fact.
â€œAs a result of the operations, officials of the military unit, deputy commander of the division, major Veled Gurbanov, platoon commander, senior lieutenant Rustam Ahmadov were held accountable and arrested as on January 28, 2010, after they distributed the weapons among the platoon soldiers for cleaning they left the soldiers uncontrolled, created conditions for them to leave the division, abused power. Measures are being taken to determine and hold accountable other offenders. The public will be regularly informed about the results.â€
