Azerbaijani Interior Ministry issues statement on persons who were accused of committing grave crimes in Turkey and arrested in Baku

The ministry’s press service told APA that as a result of the measures it was determined that citizens of Turkey Mehmet Sena Soylemez, his brother Faysal and their close relative Deniz Dashdemir, who were accused of setting up a criminal gang and kidnapping and wanted under the decision of Istanbul Court of Grave Crimes, came to Baku and rented a house in Narimanov district.
They were arrested on January 26. 3 fake passports, national currencies of Armenia, Syria, Iraq, USA and Turkey, political literature, SIM cards belonging to foreign mobile operators, a number of documents and map were seized in their house.

Investigation is underway.

APA reported quoting Turkish news agencies that Mehmet and Faysal Soylemez wanted in Turkey for six years, were detained in Baku on January 27. Istanbul police sent a special group to Azerbaijan for them. There are a number of criminal dossiers about Mehmet Soylemez and his brother. The bothers were arrested in 1993, but were soon released under the amnesty act. They committed crime again, but escaped while their hearing was going on in 2004.
