National Security Ministry arrests impostors pretending to be officers of government agencies
Hajiali Abbasov pretended to be officer for educational issues of Azerbaijani Presidential Administration and Mirza Guliyev pretended to be deputy head of one of the districts of Baku and deceived a number of entrants, who failed to gain passing score at the examinations held by the State Student Admission Commission. Hajiali Abbasov and Mirza Guliyev promised to help those entrants to enter some higher schools through Heydar Aliyev Foundation and took a large sum of money.
Under the instructions of Hajiali Abbasov, Mirza Guliyev promised one of those citizens through Metleb Huseynov to help to enter Azerbaijan State Economic University in exchange for AZN 10,000 and agreed to receive the money in parts. When Metleb Huseynov understood that he was deceived, he promised to give AZN 2,000 in order to expose Hajiali Abbasov and Mirza Guliyev. Mirza Guliyev agreed to it.
Metleb Huseynov informed the ministry about the mentioned cases and expressed willingness to assist in detention of Hajiali Abbasov and Mirza Guliyev. The security officers prepared a special plan fro detention of Abbasov and Guliyev.
On January 18, 2010, Metleb Huseynov met with Mirza Guliyev in a tea house in Baku and gave him 2000 AZN for enrolment to Azerbaijan State University of Economics, military call-up document and application fee-payment card to him. Guliyev was detained barehanded.
Abbasov and Guliyev were arrested for pre-trial detention.
The Ministry of National Security asked the citizens who suffered from the illegal actions of Abbasov and Guliyev to inform the security services about that.
