Baku. Rashad Suleymanov – APA. The ninth President of Turkey Suleyman Demirel, who visited Azerbaijan to attend the 3rd Baku International Humanitarian Forum, has today returned to Ankara. APA reports that at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, the former President was seen off by Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Novruz Mammadov, Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Ismail Alper Cosgun, military attaché Hasan Nevzat Tasteler and others.
Demirel told the journalists at the airports that he highly estimates the visit as he held useful discussions in Baku: “I would like to express my love for the brotherly people of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev showed us great hospitality. We had useful discussions on the relations between the two countries at our meeting. I also addressed the nations of the world at the International Humanitarian Forum. I am very pleased with the visit. I had effective work here.”
Demirel noted that Azerbaijan-Turkey relations are really very strong and perfect: “They will be better tomorrow. We are one nation with two states.”
The former president noted that both countries’ economies are growing rapidly. Today Azerbaijan is investing more than $ 15 billion in Turkey: “An oil pipeline, two gas pipelines have been constructed. The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway is being built. These are great works.”
Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan Novruz Mammadov said that all the Azerbaijani people know and love Demirel. He said that Demirel had a great role in today’s high level of the Azerbaijan-Turkey relations.
