Recep Tayyib Erdogan: â€œThe relations with Azerbaijan based on historical closeness will be further strengthenedâ€

Baku – APA. “Our people have once again expressed their confidence to us in the elections. It is a support to our foreign policy. Along with our party, the entire region and peace got victory. With our visit to fraternal Azerbaijan we will once again demonstrate worldwide importance attached to fraternity and friendship,” Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyib Erdogan told journalists at the airport before his visit to Azerbaijan, APA reports.

R. T. Erdogan said they will discuss different aspects of the bilateral relations, regional and international issues at a meeting with the President of Azerbaijani Ilham Aliyev: “Turkey-Azerbaijan relations have gained an exceptional quality that can be taken an example. Along with perfect strategic cooperation, we also sign successful projects in the South Caucasus. Baku-Tbilis-Ceyhan and Baku-Tbilisi-Kars implemented with the participation of Georgia are global projects. The works are underway on implementation of TANAP project, which will transport Azeri gas to Turkey and Europe and completion of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars project”.

Turkish PM stressed they are following the ongoing developments in the South Caucasus: “We actively support the achievement of peace in the region. At the meeting with President Aliyev, we’ll exchange views on the settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict within the Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. Our people’s relations based on historical closeness will be further strengthened.”
