APA’s European correspondent reports that at the morning meeting of the organization, the Committee has adopted a draft Resolution regarding operation of democratic institutions in Ukraine and the document will be discussed at PACE’s plenary meeting tomorrow.

In the document, Ukraine’s territorial integrity has been supported and annexes and amendments offered by Russia have not been adopted.

At the midday meeting of the Monitoring Committee, there were discussed depriving Russian delegation to the PACE of voting rights, freezing Russian delegation's powers until end of 2014 or more sanctions.

A special draft resolution has also been adopted on this issue. Though, the Committee took positive decision on Russian delegation’s rights within the organization and participation in the PACE, it has taken a decision on depriving Russian delegation of voting right.

This decision will put to the vote at the plenary meeting of the PACE to be held on April 10.

Though the member of Russian delegation to the PACE Alexei Pushkov negatively assessed this decision, he said that the Committee members have not voted for fully depriving Russian delegation of voting rights and Russia’s withdrawal from the PACE: “This decision is also negative for us. However, no one voted for Russia’s withdrawal from the Assembly. It means we’ll operate throughout a year from spring session of the PACE, we’ll only not have voting rights. However, most likely we’ll quit this session as a protest against this decision after discussions among ourselves”.
