Baku. Victoria Dementieva – APA. “Azerbaijan has always been home of different religions, nations and cultures. Tolerance is not a new idea for us, it is a part of our life”, the Vice-President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Founder and Director of the International Dialogue for Environmental Action (IDEA) global initiative Leyla Aliyeva said at the 3rd International Humanitarian Forum.
Leyla Aliyeva said she is satisfied that the international humanitarian forum is being held in Baku, one of the rapidly developing cities of the world: “Along with contemporary development, we have very ancient history, traditions and we highly appreciate it”.
Aliyeva assessed the forum as a prefect opportunity to discuss pressing issues, including environmental issues: “If a man does not change attitude towards environment, environmental disasters will become real danger for people’s life in the future”.
She also spoke about IDEA’s projects implemented in the world and the region and noted that one of the initiatives was to plant 3 million trees: “This is an excellent method to bring together young Azerbaijanis and draw their attention to the environmental problems. Millions of trees have been planted with the support of Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.”
Noting IDEA’s cooperation with different environmental organizations for the development of dialogue and cooperation among the youth, Leyla Aliyeva stressed that she was satisfied that environmental issues are pressing among the modern youth and noted that it’s impossible to create environmental civilization without discussing these issues.
She also said that IDEA’s another contest “No water, no life” will be held next year and children will be able to express their views about the environment: “Natural resources can exhaust, but the human intellect creating new ideas and programs can not exhaust”.
