Baku. Anakhanum Idoyatova – APA. “Despite the international situation regarding Ukraine, it is very important to continue the negotiations within the OSCE Minsk Group. Stability and confidence are necessary to create peace in the world,” French Ambassador to Azerbaijan Pascal Meunier told journalists, APA reports. He said that the purpose of France within the Minsk Group is to give an impetus to the efforts of the co-chairing countries and presidents of the two countries: “We need stability in this region and I think that we should be optimistic about the future. Therefore, nothing can replace the negotiations. I believe in the leadership of the presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia. I am sure that they will act in favor of the people.”

P. Meunier considers that the recent events in Ukraine differ from what has been going on between Azerbaijan and Armenia for more than 20 years: “At that time, the Soviet Republic collapsed, new governments were founded and the situation was very complicated. Territorial integrity is our common policy in both situations. Territorial integrity is the basic principle of international law and it is inviolable. If the principle of territorial integrity becomes undermined, the world order will also be undermined. Therefore, we supported Ukraine in the UN General Assembly and we are very glad that Azerbaijan is among the countries that have supported Ukraine.”
