BSEC NGO Forum issues statement protesting against pressures on Moldovan Human Rights Commissioner by Armenians

Baku – APA. NGO Forum of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) expresses its concern over pressures exerted on Aurelia Grigoriu, Human Rights Commissioner of Moldova, after she made a speech at the international conference in Yerevan, in July, 2013 saying that Armenia has been continuing its aggressive policy against Azerbaijan for more than 25 years and occupied 20 percent of its territories.

The statement issued by the NGO Forum says that Aurelia Grigoriu was especially attacked by deputy speaker of the Armenian Parliament Hermine Naghdalyan.

Aurelia Grigoriu has issued a statement after the incident: “The information that I have presented in my statement is not my speculative views. I have used the materials of the UN Security Council and have not said anything new.”

After the speech, Aurelia Grigoriu began to continuously receive threats both via telephone and social networks.

Not only Armenian authorities, but also Armenian diaspora in Moldova threaten and exert pressure on her. Due to her speech in Yerevan, the Armenian Diaspora in Moldova tries to insult her honor and dignity, exerts pressure on her and her family.

BSEC NGO Forum representatives strongly condemn Armenia's attitude towards the fair statement issued by Moldovan Ombudsman on Khojaly genocide. We urge the international organizations to express more severe position on the situation Moldovan Human Rights Commissioner faced in Armenia. We expect the international organizations, including the European Parliament, Council of Europe, OSCE and UN to take concrete steps to protect the rights and dignity of Aurelia Grigoriu. Assessment should be immediately made in order to prevent such cases in future," the statement says.
