American companies view Azerbaijan as a regional connectivity hub, said Khush Choksy, Senior Vice President, International Member Relations and Senior Vice President, Middle East and Türkiye at the US Chamber of Commerce, while speaking about the main objectives of the mission to Azerbaijan in response to APA’s question.
According to him, the main goal of the visit was not to sign specific agreements, but for American companies to become closely acquainted with the Azerbaijani business environment and receive direct information from government representatives about existing opportunities, as well as future plans.
Khush Choksy noted that there are several important advantages to operating in Azerbaijan’s markets. According to him, the first of these advantages is the country’s current stage of development.
“Azerbaijan has a strong infrastructure. By utilizing its energy resources, the country has diversified its economy, which has made it possible to ensure sustainable economic growth. This factor opens up broad opportunities for Azerbaijan’s future development,” he noted.
Choksy emphasized that these opportunities are particularly evident in the tourism sector. The increase in the number of tourists visiting the country, the development of infrastructure, and Baku’s rich historical and cultural heritage are clear examples of this potential.
A representative of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce pointed to Azerbaijan’s geographic location as its second key advantage. He stated that Azerbaijan is an important connecting hub between East and West and, amid Europe’s energy needs, holds strategic importance in terms of energy, transport routes, logistics, manufacturing, and North–South connectivity.
According to him, as regional development continues, Azerbaijan’s role will be further strengthened. It was noted that Azerbaijan is part of the C5 format, and its transformation into a C6 format creates new opportunities for regional cooperation. The country’s geographic location provides it with access to markets beyond its borders.
He added that U.S. companies view Azerbaijan as a strategic pivot point and consider the country one of the key hubs connecting Central Asia with Europe via the Caspian Sea. According to him, in this context Azerbaijan can play an important role in the expansion of global supply chains, including in critical minerals, oil and gas products, fiber-optic lines, as well as regional and digital connectivity.
