"When we say that the rules-based international order has been violated, it seems as if we are deliberately trying to undermine it," Ján Kubiš, foreign policy and international relations adviser to the President of Slovakia, said during his speech at the panel discussion titled “Multilateralism in Crisis: Rethinking Global Cooperation” at the 13th Global Baku Forum, APA reports.
“Everyone says that the system based on international law has come to an end. But I do not think that is the case. The vast majority of nations remain committed to a rules-based international order. Only a few countries violate this order. When we say that the international legal order is finished, it sounds as if we are deliberately trying to destroy it. We must fight against this. We must fight against aggressive nationalism. In particular, chauvinist parties are gaining momentum in EU countries. Populist nationalist and right-wing parties are strengthening across the EU. We must fight against this,” he said.
