The Washington summit provided political support to the peace process, said Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan – Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan, at a briefing at the Zangilan Congress Center, APA reports.
Hikmat Hajiyev emphasized that the main goal of the summit was to ensure peace: “Our goal was to achieve peace. We are also grateful to the U.S. administration, President Trump, and his entire team for providing political support to advance the peace process.”
The President’s aide noted that Azerbaijan and Armenia are in the process of defining peace: “Currently, Armenia and Azerbaijan are learning to live in peace, because after gaining independence, the two countries did not know what peace meant. Nevertheless, we are in the process of defining peace. Defining war is very easy, because it involves blood, destruction, and all these terrible things. However, during this time, defining peace and adapting to live in peaceful conditions is very difficult.”
Hikmat Hajiyev emphasized at the briefing the intricacies of the peace process, the importance of ensuring sustainable stability in the region, and the necessity of continuing cooperation with international partners in this direction.
