At a time when global geopolitical dynamics are rapidly changing, strengthening humanitarian and socio-economic solidarity between countries gains a special strategic importance. Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, in this context, serves as a model of exemplary partnership in the region, Professor Ranokhon Tursunova, Doctor of Historical Sciences and a faculty member of the Department of Political Science at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy in Tashkent told APA.
“As President of Azerbaijan Ilham Heydar oglu Aliyev has repeatedly emphasized, Uzbekistan was the first country in the world to take the initiative to provide assistance for the reconstruction of the Karabakh region. This step by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev is regarded both as an expression of humanitarian solidarity and as a manifestation of brotherly relations. The construction of a modern general-education school in the city of Fuzuli, named after the great Uzbek scholar Mirza Ulugh Beg, is one of the most important examples of this cooperation. Today, hundreds of students study at the school, and this educational institution has become a symbol of Uzbekistan’s support for the people of Azerbaijan,” she emphasized.
According to the Uzbek political scientist, the joint sewing enterprise established in Khankendi contributes to the creation of new jobs, the development of light industry in the region, and the expansion of socio-economic opportunities for the local population: “This initiative shows that Uzbekistan is actively participating not only in humanitarian but also in economic projects in the liberated territories. The prospects for the future participation of Uzbek companies in the reconstruction of Karabakh are also considered broad. Growing interest in the fields of construction, industry, infrastructure, and services is the result of cooperation based on a high level of trust and the principle of mutual benefit between the two countries. The deepening of cooperation in this direction will give an additional impetus to the rapid revival of the region, the strengthening of economic ties, and the further development of Azerbaijani-Uzbek brotherly relations.”
