The Islamic Republic of Iran has programs to expand cooperation with neighboring countries in political, economic, cultural, and even security fields, said Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi at the international conference of governors of the provinces along the Caspian Sea coast, APA reports.
“The Caspian Sea is just as important to us as the Persian Gulf,” the foreign minister said.
According to him, the Caspian littoral states have begun joint cooperation by valuing the shared understanding and significance of this region.
Noting that there are strategic and important relations between Iran and Russia, the minister emphasized that his country has excellent relations with all the countries in the Caspian region:
“President Pezeshkian has visited Russia and Azerbaijan. I think he will also visit Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan within a month.”
Abbas Araghchi stated that cooperation among the Caspian littoral states in maritime affairs, economy, and tourism is important: “There are environmental concerns, and we all must work to eliminate them. The Caspian Sea is a treasure in terms of energy, fishing, and other fields.”
