The legacy of governance inherited from India’s colonial period, which continues to exert influence today, raises concerns about the future of religious and ethnic minorities, Christians, Muslims, Dalits, Sikhs, and other groups, said Bhai Moninder Singh, Chairman of the Sikh Federation, during his speech at the international conference titled “Racism and Violence Against Sikhs and Other National Minorities in India: The Reality on the Ground,” dedicated to the Indian government's repressive policies against ethnic minorities, APA reports.
The speaker stated that illegal arrests targeting national minorities, extrajudicial executions, enforced disappearances, cases of sexual violence against women, and attacks on civilians occur regularly.
“These cases have continued for decades and are an example of the Indian state’s harsh repressive policy against minorities,” Moninder Singh said.
