Baku reveals its old soul and modern spirit through historic streets, revived neighbourhoods, and a multicultural identity shaped by centuries of coexistence, says a report by the “Euronews” television channel concerning the city of Baku, APA reports.
“The multicultural character of the city of Baku is reflected in the fact that mosques, synagogues, and churches are located close to one another. Green areas and modern design complete the portrait of a city where tradition, renewal, and diversity continue to shape daily life,” the report states.
The report draws attention to the harmony between ancient history and modern life in the city of Baku.
The “Euronews” team became acquainted with Icherisheher and shared information about the historical monuments there with its viewers: “Baku is a city of contrasts: ancient history and modern life coexist here. Starting from the stone streets of Icherisheher and such sights as the Maiden Tower, visitors move beyond the capital towards the village of Balakhani, which has been revived through restoration based on its oil heritage, public art and creative spaces.”
The “Euronews” team visited the “Gum” bathhouse in Balakhani and the hunting monument, sharing information about the history and use of these monuments.
Becoming acquainted with Azerbaijan’s rich cultural heritage at the “Chelabi” gallery, the “Euronews” team spoke about the fascinating synergy between traditional methods and modern schools of art in the works displayed there.
The “Euronews” team then visited mosques, churches and synagogues. It was noted that representatives of different religions have lived in a tolerant environment in Azerbaijan for centuries, and as a result, the very rare peaceful coexistence of religions has been achieved here.
Overall, the report provides a detailed reflection of the well-balanced relationship between historicity and innovation in the city of Baku.
