“While dealing with the processes we are currently experiencing, we must invest every day to ensure peace in our lives. At the same time, establishing economic ties is also of great importance. As already noted, we have begun trade with Azerbaijan,” said Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan during the panel session “South Caucasus: On the Path to Becoming a Strategic Hub” held within the framework of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, APA’s correspondent dispatched to Türkiye reports.
The deputy minister stated that in the near future, the export of some goods from Armenia to Azerbaijan is expected.
According to him, energy security is one of the most important components of possible cooperation, and this is important not only bilaterally but also regionally.
Kostanyan added that Armenia will implement three projects together with its partners in the United States: “These projects are related to multimodal connectivity and include railways, highways, as well as energy networks and pipelines.”
He emphasized that the main goal in this direction is to diversify Armenia’s energy supply and at the same time become a transit hub for energy resources from Central Asia and Azerbaijan directed to Europe.
The deputy minister noted that one of the interesting projects for Armenia is also the submarine cable project, adding that the country currently has the largest share among contractors in green energy production.
According to him, Georgia and Azerbaijan are also working to increase their renewable energy potential, investing heavily in solar energy and planning the construction of a new nuclear power plant.
Kostanyan stated that in this context, cooperation with the European Union is extremely important for Armenia: “This is not only economic cooperation but also the choice of the Armenian people who have European-oriented aspirations.”
He added that Armenia is currently working in various fields towards the launch of large-scale cross-sectoral integration with the European Union.
In conclusion, the deputy minister noted that Georgia’s European future is also of great importance for Armenia.”
