Georgia welcomes the progress toward peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia, said Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Committee on Environmental Protection and Natural Resources, Maia Bitadze, during her speech at the OSCE PA session held in Istanbul, APA’s local bureau reports.
According to her, achieving peace between the two countries creates conditions for regional security and economic growth.
“Historically considered a Silk Road country, Georgia is ready to be a neutral and reliable partner to promote the sustainable development of connectivity throughout the region,” Bitadze added.
The committee chair noted that Georgia’s role in the Middle Corridor is increasing at a significant pace:
“In 2024 alone, a 62 percent increase in freight turnover along the corridor was recorded, and the modernization of railways in Georgia will significantly enhance its throughput capacity.”
