A delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, led by the Speaker of the Milli Majlis, Sahiba Gafarova, visited Iran on July 3 to attend the farewell ceremony of the former Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis told APA.
It was reported that the delegation was welcomed at Tehran's Mehrabad International Airport by Ali Nikzad, Deputy Chairman of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran, Ali Alizadeh, Ambassador of our country to Iran, and protocol staff.
Then, the delegation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, headed by Speaker Sahiba Gafarova, participated in the farewell ceremony held at the Mosallah complex in Tehran.
At the event, the Speaker of the Milli Majlis met with Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Chairman of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and other officials, and expressed condolences on behalf of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and conveyed the deep sorrow and respect of the Azerbaijani people to the Iranian people.
