Baku. Lachin Sultanova – APA. Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov has today left for Kiev, APA reports. The aim of the visit is to attend the official opening ceremony of the secretariat of GUAM – Organization for Democracy and Economic Development and the meeting of the organization’s Council of Foreign Ministers on February 26. Coordination of GUAM countries’ efforts in connection with economic-financial crisis will be discussed at the meeting.
GUAM Secretariat started functioning on September 1, 2007. The secretariat was located in the building of Ukrainian Foreign Ministry. The special building of the secretariat will be inaugurated tomorrow. GUAM Secretary General Valeri Chechelashvili has been holding the post since July 1, 2007.
