Joint declaration signed on results of GUAM’s Batumi summit

APA reports that the declaration signed by the presidents of Georgia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Lithuania and Poland expressed link to strengthen democratic values, Human Rights and freedoms, supremacy of law, cultural heritage and tolerance of peoples. The sides stated that the course for the development of regional cooperation as a part of the European and Asian integration processes, and for strengthening partnership relations with the US, Poland, Japan and other states, as well as the international organizations. The authors of the document underlined the importance of the development strategy in economic, humanitarian cooperation. The declaration expressed concern over the protracted conflicts, aggressive separatism, extremism and international terrorism. GUAM countries stated that they were ready to eliminate these threats in the atmosphere of close cooperation with other states and international organizations and underlined the importance of the international community’s support for the settlement of the conflicts. The presidents also said they were ready to continue the improvement of energy security system and support the efforts for the diversification of the European market of energy carriers.
