Vasiliy Istratov: “Destabilization in the South Caucasus is not within Azerbaijan’s interestsâ€

Baku. Lachin Sultanova–APA. “Destabilization in the South Caucasus is not within the interests of Azerbaijan, the largest country of this regionâ€, said Vasiliy Istratov, Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan responding the question of journalists about the impact of Georgia-Russia tensions on the general situation in the region and on the solution to the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. He said Russia taken into consideration its historical, economic and cultural relations with the South Caucasian republics played a constructive role in the settlement of the conflicts in this region. The diplomat reminded that his country was one of the mediators in the Nagorno Karabakh solution process. “We make joint efforts with the other co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group to solve this problemâ€.
