Ali Nagiyev: â€œTransportation of Azerbaijani oil to Europe via Belarus is under discussion nowâ€

Lachin Sultanovaâ€“APA. â€œAzerbaijan and Belarus extend economic cooperation and dynamic development of mutual trade turnover is its indicationâ€, said Vadim Popov, Chairman of House of Representatives of Belarusian Parliament at the meeting with Azerbaijani Ambassador to Belarus Ali Nagiyev, APA quotes Belta. The Speaker said trade turnover between Belarus and Azerbaijan was 89.7 million USD last year rising for 2.5 times in comparison with 2006. This figure was 25.4 million USD for January-March, 2008 rising for 1.8 times in comparison with the same period of last year. Popov said there were 50 documents regulated the relations between the two countries and spoke about the intentions of Belarusian and Azerbaijani business people to establish joint enterprises. Ambassador Nagiyev said that Azerbaijan had keen interest not only in Belarus-made machinery goods, but also in goods of light and food industries. Speaking about the joint projects, the Ambassador said Belarus would participate in the exploitation of oil fields and oil production in Azerbaijan. Besides, transportation of Azerbaijani oil to Europe via Belarus is also under the discussion. He added that these projects were complicated and not rapidly-solved processes, but the work was going on.
