85th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev marked in Los â€“Angeles

Los â€“Angeles. Husniyya Hasanova â€“APA. 85th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev has been marked in Public Library named after 40th President Ronald Reagan in Los â€“Angeles, APA US bureau reports
Video clip has been demonstrated at the event attended by representatives of Azerbaijani, Turkish, Jewish and Georgian Communities and diplomatic corps. Elin Suleymanov, Azerbaijani Consul General to Los â€“Angeles addressing the event said that it is not accidental to hold the event in Library named after Reagan. Suleymanov added that Soviet Union has collapsed as a result of policy pursued by Reagan and name of Azerbaijan took its place in the map again. Consul General mentioned the role of Reagan in the development of the world during transitional period.
â€œNational leader Heydar Aliyev controlled the country during transitional period,â€ he said.
Suleymanov added that all ethnic groups are given freedom for the future of Azerbaijan during the leadership of Heydar Aliyev.
â€œThis step is not taken in favor of somebody. This is national feature of Azerbaijanis,â€ he said.
Jimmy Delshad Mayor of Beverly Hills addressing the event noted that modern Azerbaijan which established by Heydar Aliyev is one of the best democratic countries of the region. To him, Azerbaijan includes into few democratic countries of Near East at present. Mr. Jimmy read a statement adopted by leadership of the city on 85th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev and 90th anniversary of Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
Azerbaijani singers gave a concert at the end of the event.
