Assistant Ambassador of Georgia: â€œDeployment of armed forces in the territory of Georgia without its sanction is illegal measureâ€

Lachin Sultanova â€“APA. â€œExpansion of so-called peacekeeping contingent in the zone of Georgian-Abkhazian conflict is a curtained aggressionâ€, said Nikoloz Gogitidze, Assistant Ambassador of Georgia to Azerbaijan at the press-conference in Baku on Tuesday. He said Russia had deployed landing troops and ethnic Chechens there instead of peacekeepers because Georgia couldnâ€™t control that territory. â€œDeployment of armed forces in the territory of Georgia without its sanction is illegal measure. We hope that UN will extend its small mission in the conflict zone, which will be able to control the situation. Georgia intends to be economically developed country with a wide infrastructure and therefore it needs in peaceâ€. The diplomat said Georgia would not begin military operations. He thinks that not peacekeeping mission, but international police forces should be deployed in the zone of Georgian-Abkhazian conflict because there were no military operations there. Speaking about the probability of Georgian leaving CIS, Gogitidze said there should be political decision on that.
