Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan: Russia should fulfill its responsibilities on delivering the cargo to Iran

APA reports Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan Nazir Hamidi Zare told journalists that the decision of Baku on detaining road-train loaded with equipment was connected with the customs procedures. The ambassador mentioned that Islamic Republic of Iran and Azerbaijan had ancient relations. The diplomat noted that the main contactor of Bushehr nuclear power plant was Russiaâ€™s Atomstroiexport LLC and the cargo had been sent by that company.
â€œThe company is responsible for the cargo and should fulfill its responsibilities on delivering it to Iran,â€ he said.
The ambassador also noted that the cargo was completely legal.
The cargo sent from Russia for the construction of Iranâ€™s Bushehr nuclear power plant was detained on Azerbaijan-Iran border on March 29.
Azerbaijan State Customs Committee said the cargo fell under the list of special products confirmed by the decision #42 of the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers. Under the decision #230 of the Cabinet of Ministers there should be a special permission to convey them as transit goods.
Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry sent a questionnaire to Russian embassy in Azerbaijan and wanted detailed information about the cargo.
