Azerbaijani Foreign Minister meets with Bulgaria’s President and Prime Minister

Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Khazar Ibrahim told APA that Bulgarian President mentioned his visit to Azerbaijan and noted that the relations between the twp countries were developing. Underlining the importance of increasing trade turnover between the countries, Georgi Parvanov said the next meeting of Azerbaijan-Bulgaria intergovernmental commission to be held in Plovdiv in September would create opportunities for the development of economic relations. He underlined the necessity of improving energy cooperation. Speaking of high-level political and strategic partnership relations between the two states, Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said it had positive influence on economic cooperation. The Minister said there was a need to develop the cooperation in non-oil sector and regarded agriculture, transport and tourism as promising spheres. The Foreign Minister also noted the importance of Bulgaria’s role in cooperation with European and Euro Atlantic organizations.
Elmar Mammadyarov has also met with Prime Minister of Bulgaria Sergey Stanishev. The ministers noted that the meeting of the intergovernmental commission and business forum in September would contribute to the development of economic and business relations between the two countries. Sergey Stanishev underlined the importance of mutual investments. The ministers also spoke about the additional cooperation opportunities in energy and commercial spheres and stressed the importance of humanitarian and cultural aspect of the relations. Elmar Mammadyarov will today meet with Speaker of Bulgarian Parliament and Foreign Minister.
