On March 28, an international conference “After Kosovo: unity of unrecognized states on the way to recognition” was held in the Institute of CIS Countries headed by Konstantin Zatulin, First Deputy Chief of Russian Parliament’s Committee on CIS Affairs and Relations with Compatriots. The representatives of the so-called regime operating in the occupied Azerbaijani territories were invited to the conference and representatives of Russia’s government agencies participated in the conference. The Embassy took relevant measures and filed the note of protest to Russian Foreign Ministry on April 7, 2008. The document notes that the representative of the legislative body and First Deputy Chief of the Parliament’s Committee on CIS Affairs Konstantin Zatulin does not give up illegal activity and such an activity is unacceptable. The Embassy also states that inviting the representatives of Russian Foreign Ministry and Moscow government to the conference is not in the spirit of the strategic cooperation relations established between the two countries and reflected in the contract and other political-legal documents signed between Azerbaijan and Russia. Russian Foreign Ministry is requested to give explanation in connection with the conference and avoid such cases in future.
