Istratov expressed his gratitude to Russian citizens living in Azerbaijan who participated in the elections actively. Diplomat stated that activeness of electors has reached 15-20% compared with elections to State Duma held in 2003.Ambassador said that “United Russia†won elections and stated that Communist, Liberal-Democrat, “Yabloko†parties won seats in the parliament. Istratov noted that 1118 people from 1497 electors voted for “United Russia†in Azerbaijan.
“Azerbaijani observers did not found any serious irregularities that may affect on the result of elections. Azerbaijani leadership was one of those who first congratulated Vladimir Putin on victory of “United Russia “party,†he said.
