Israel Ambassador visits Southern regions of Azerbaijan

On November 1-2 Ambassador of Israel to Azerbaijan Arthur Lenk visited two southern regions of Azerbaijan including visits to Lenkaran and Jalilabad regions. During the visit to Lenkaran Arthur Lenk met with Suleyman Mikayilov, Head of Executive Authority of Lenkaran and business community. Ambassador Lenk emphasized to the governor the potential for growth of economic cooperation between Israel and Lenkaran, especially in the areas of agribusiness and hi-tech infrastructure.
He also visited the Representation of the Muslims of Caucasus Department in the Southern Region and met with Haji Gani Akhundzadeh, Plenipotentiary Charge dâ€™Affairs of Sheykh Ul Islam in South region of Azerbaijan. They discussed shared values of Muslims and Jews and the importance of tolerance between peoples of faith. The Ambassador presented the religious leader with a copy of the Koran, translated to the Hebrew language.
Ambassador Lenk also visited Lenkaran State University and met with university leaders, faculty and students. He presented a lecture on the subject â€œIsrael and Azerbaijan: opportunity strategic and economic engagementâ€, which led to a lively dialogue including an exchange of views on the future of Israel-Azerbaijani bilateral relations.
On the second day of the visit, Ambassador Lenk met with Aziz Azizov, Head of Executive Authority of Jalilabad and visited with members of the small Jewish community of the village of Privolnoye, in the Jalilabad region. /APA/
