Turkish ambassador: We do not await anybody’s support or permission to prevent terrorist attacks

“Those who committed these actions, were inhuman and they were punished. I hope our soldiers will not be killed any more. Turkey will take necessary steps to prevent these attacks. We do not await anybody’s permission or support. It is good, if we are supported, but we do not need anybody’s permission,” he said. The ambassador said he does not think that the parliament’s decision on carrying out military operations in Northern Iraq will impede Turkey’s admission to the European Union.
“These issues differ from each other. One is a terrorist act and the other Turkey’s progress on the way of culture and democracy. This is a cultural project. Such a project should not be confused with fight against terrorists. On the contrary, such events should raise awareness of Europe,” he said.
The ambassador also took a stance on the claims that though Turkish parliament passed a relevant decision, the army will not enter Northern Iraq.
“Turkey’s actions will be obvious. We will see Turkey enter this territory after our soldiers were killed. We will enter Northern Iraq, when it is necessary,” he said. /APA/
