Azerbaijani film to compete for Oskar award for the first time

Film produced in Azerbaijan will compete for Oskar prize for the first time. President of Metropol Cinema Company, cinema producer Farid Humbatov’s film “Caucasus” has been presented to the contest for getting Oskar Prize. “Caucasus” documental film is Farid Humbatov’s second film. The producer shot film “Kenar shekhsler” (Strangers) before this film. Ireland will also compete along with Azerbaijan. Jury will choose 5 out of 63 films submitted to contest and award them on various nominations. Russia is represented by Nikita Mikhalkov’s film “12” in this competition. The film which has chance to win Oskar Prize this year is regarded film “Four months, three weeks, two days” (Romania, producer Christian Mungiu) which was the winner of Cannes Film Festival. /APA/
