Shooting of film about outstanding Azerbaijani writer Mahammad Asad bey in Bundestag ends
Nuride Ateshi underlined that Reiche regards “Ali and Nino†by Asad Bey as one of the most precious pearls of the world literature and has no doubt that this bestseller novel is by Asad Bey.
Ms. Ateshi is the first to research Asad bey’s creative activity in European archives. The researcher has recently found new archives which prove the writer’s being of Azerbaijani origin. According to the newly found documents, after losing his parents, his aunt’s husband Abraham Nussimbaum adopted him and naming him Lev Nussimbaum took the little Asad to Berlin in order to take him to Europe through Tbilisi and Istanbul. The documents show that on becoming popular for a short time in Berlin Asad bey faces accusations by Hilal Munshi, Javad bey Vezirov, and Zahid Afandi. These persons introduced him as Jewish to German official in order to stain him. Despite the support from German Reichstag, Berlin parliament members, region deputies as well as German Writers’ Union and other institutions, it was impossible to defend him from the six-year large campaign against Asad bey by Hilal Munshi and when the wave of fascism began in Germany. Though fascist Germany could not prove the claims of being Jewish on Asad bey, he was discharged from the membership of the Chamber of Writers in 1935, and it was forbidden to mention his name in German press, and also his works were forbidden.
Basing on all these documents, Ms.Ateshi has offered a number of proposals to the Parliamentary Friendship Group for Relations with the States of the Southern Caucasus for confessing the unfair attitude towards Asad bey, bringing him acquittal in international level to restore his innocence and perpetuating him. S.Reiche pledged support for the struggle of Ms.Ateshi to return prominent writer of world literature, Asad bey to both Azerbaijan and the world. German parliamentarian stressed necessity of publishing the latest manuscript “A man unaware of love†by Asad bey within the framework of Azerbaijani Cultural Year in Germany in 2008. She said that attaching a commemorative plague on the building Asad bey lived in Berlin and “Ali and Nino†audio disc would be her gift to the Azerbaijani Cultural Year in Germany. Bundestag MP promised to support this project by all means saying that Asad bay is one those who created the first bridge between East and West. /APA/
