U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan visits Agjabedi region

The Ambassador met head of regionâ€™s executive power Shahin Mammadov. The head of executive power informed the Ambassador about the living condition of internally-displaced persons housed in the region. He reported that 15, 927 IDPs have been housed in Agjabedi and surrounding villages. Mr.Mammadov added that Armenians managed to occupy Yukhari Giyamaddinli village of the region during the war, and the enemy who left burning more than 100 houses in the village in a short time. The village residents returned to their places again and continue to live their now.
The U.S. Ambassador stated that Washington rendered humanitarian aid worth $325 million to Azerbaijan up today.
â€œThe U.S. wants Azerbaijanâ€™s achieving liberation of its territories in a peaceful way, and bringing IDPs back to their native places. The U.S. recognizes territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and will try to continue its goodwill diplomacy in order to ensure this integrity,â€ Ms.Derse underlined.
The Ambassador said that her visit to Agjabedi aims to get acquainted with the living condition of IDPs and get more information about them.
During her visit, Ms.Derse will attend the opening of a hospital for IDPs from Lachin region in Takhtakorpu district constructed by financial support of the U.S State Department and also visit the Cheesemaking Company which employs IDPs. The Company is funded by the US Department of State. /APA/
