Daniel S. Sullivan: US is closely cooperating with Azerbaijan in democratic reforms, security, energy cooperation and economic reforms spheres

These factors give impetus on strengthening strategic partnership between US and Azerbaijan, US Assistant Secretary of State for Economic, Energy and Business Affairs Daniel S. Sullivan said during his meeting with media representatives and students at US-Azerbaijan Center, APA reports.
He said US and Azerbaijan are cooperating in three directions: democratic reforms, security, energy cooperation and economic reforms.
Mr. Sullivan underlined that it is time to start new round of talks for the development of Caspian energy. It is possible to continue oil and gas production, natural gas exportation via Georgia and Turley in offshore sector of Azerbaijan and transport it to European countries, as well as Greece and Italy. It is also possible to transport Central Asian gas to European markets along with Azeri gas. Our economic cooperation is not limited by only energy sector. We intend to support economic development in Azerbaijan through economic cooperation commission. We are investigating trade opportunities to increase trade turnover between the two countries.
He called Azerbaijani government to combat corruption.
â€œIt was clear that the corruption is being fought in Azerbaijan,â€ he said.
Mr. Sullivan did not accept the term â€œUS-Iran confrontationâ€ saying that Iranâ€™s nuclear policy is a threat for the entire world. /APA/
