Dora Bakoyannis: â€œEurope is going to lose a model of toleranceâ€

I consider that the continuation of the process in this way will lead to negative results. So, we see its first effects,â€ said member of Greek parliament, former foreign minister of the country and former chairperson of OSCE Dora Bakoyannis in her speech in the panel on the â€œModern media and new challengesâ€ held within the II Baku International Humanitarian Forum.

Bakoyannis noted that some press agencies of the EU countries hit the tradition of tolerance in Europe: â€œEurope is going to lose a model of tolerance. To my mind, the press must never support politics or politicians. The issues raised by politicians should not be exaggerated. Of course, the media is independent and will maintain it. But the media should not forget that the speeches of political purposes cause tension in society. In a word, the media should not allow the politicians to manipulateâ€.
