Discussions held in Ganja within “Turkish Week” in Azerbaijan

Ganja. Aykhan Huseynov – APA. A debate was organized at Ganja State University within the “Turkish Week” held in Azerbaijan. Farkhad Mammadov, the director of the Strategic Research Centre near the President of Azerbaijan said that bilateral meetings are being held within the cooperation between the strategic research centers of the two countries: “The “Azerbaijani Week” was held in Turkey last yea. And this year, “Turkish week” is being held at several educational sources ofAzerbaijan”.

Speaking about the strategic cooperation between the two countries, Bulent Aras, the Head of the Strategic Research Centre near Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that both sides decided to hold intensive bilateral meetings in the regions, local universities, and scientific centers in order to get more information exchange between Azerbaijan and Turkey. B. Aras also noted that Azerbaijan and Turkey have highly developed strong strategic cooperation at bilateral level: “There is a country that Turkish people always pay a special attention towards it and wants to be aware of its red and white days. This country is Azerbaijan”.

Delivering a speech at the event Vusala Mahirgizi the Director General of APA also touched upon the role of mass media in the development of Turkey-Azerbaijan relations: “The relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey are at the highest level. And the illustrator of these relations is Media. The world community heard about the “20 January events” in Azerbaijan in 1990, thanks to Turkish “Zaman” newspaper. Then, Azerbaijan gained independence, and the first representatives of Mass media who came to Azerbaijan were TRT, Anadolu Agency, “Zaman” newspaper and other Turkish publications”.

V.Mahirgizi said Turkish Media’s approach towards Azerbaijan must be highly appreciated: “More than 100 thousands of people have organized a protest meeting at “Taksim” square dedicated to Khojali genocide. And at that time, the biggest service in putting out the information on Khojali genocide to the world community was shown exactly by the Turkish media”.

APA’s Director General said she wishes Turkish media especially give priority to the news concerning the Nagorno Karabakh conflict: “Each news dealing with each Turkish martyr, the victims of PKK terror is very for painful for us, being a representative of media we focus a special attention on such news. I wish Turkish media to put out any information on Azerbaijani martyrs killed by Armenian terrorists and let the world community to be aware of them”.

The head of analytical-analysis department of the Azerbaijani Parliament’s Apparatus Hatam Jabbarli spoke on the cooperation between the parliaments of Turkey and Azerbaijan. He said that the parliaments of both states cooperate both at bilateral level and within international organizations.

Note that, the delegation is expected to visit Azerbaijan’s Aghdam region within the “Turkish Week” and meet with the IDPs.
