Baku – APA. Russian ambassador to Azerbaijan Vladimir Dorokhin was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and met by the Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov on September 18. Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed APA that Khalafov told Russian ambassador that Azerbaijan seriously protests the actions held on the initiative of Russian-Armenian Union and on the permission of Major’s Office of Moscow City on September 14, concerning the extradition and pardoning of Ramil Safarov, as well as the provocations made by the member of Russian State Council and State Duma Vladimir Zhirinovsky. He called on Armenians for committing the terrorist acts against Azerbaijani people. He was propagandizing the commitment of criminal cases against Azerbaijan and left irresponsible in this situation.

Deputy Minister said that the irresponsibility of the above mentioned person throws a shadow on the mutual relations between the states. It’s stressed that such statements seriously damage the efforts made by OSCE Minsk group co-chairs presided by Russian Federation towards the peaceful settlement of Nagorno Karabakh conflict and restoration of peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Khalafov said that he hoped that the structures of the Russian government would give relevant evaluation to the situation and wouldn’t leave the statements made by irresponsible Zhirinovsky without attention.

A protest note was submitted to the Russian ambassador during the meeting.
