NATO Secretary General: “The security threats still remain in the Southern Caucasus region”

Baku. Victoria Dementieva – APA. “Despite the progress in the region, the security threats still remain,” said NATO Secretary General Anders fog Rasmussen during his speech at the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy, APA reports.

He also touched the Nagorno Karabakh conflict: “The two issues are clear in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. The military settlement of the conflict means is not possible and the only way forward will be dialogue, compromise and cooperation. NATO was not directly involved in the settlement process of the conflict, but we fully support the efforts of the OSCE Minks Group directed to the settlement.”

Anders fog Rasmussen stressed the importance of taking measures to eleminate threats in the region and to create opportunities for cooperation within the region.
