APA’s correspondent participating in the 17th Press and Information Agencies Exhibition-Festival in Tehran reports that Minister said relations between Iran and Azerbaijan were developing.
“Trade turnover between the two countries was $550 million in 2009. If some obstacles between the two countries are eliminated, this figure can be increased by $1 billion,” he said.

Mehdi Ghazanfari said the sanctions of the European countries against Iran had not have a serious influence on their trade turnover with Iran.
“It has a simple reason. If it had influenced, the first resolution would not have been followed by the second, third and fourth resolutions. Sanctions have lost their efficiency in the 21st century. Relations among countries are extending. Iran with its 70 million population makes up a big market. Therefore, the European countries are interested in establishing relations with us. Once Iran was an importing country in terms of technology, now it has become an exporting country. This is the second reason of the sanctions’ failure. Though governments declare sanctions, private companies are interested in establishing these relations,” he said.
